Manchester City will not match Arsenal’s bid as they pull out of Declan Rice race

The Citizens have been on the radar of the English international since the beginning of the transfer window as they look for a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan.

Their first bid for the West Ham captain worth £80 million plus £10 million add-on fee was rejected at first hand.

According to reports, Arsenal's latest bid of £105 million which was presented to West Ham yesterday night will not be matched by Man City as they step down from the race. 

Pep Guardiola’s side have decided not to pursue the deal for Declan Rice after Arsenal made a record bid to West Ham.

According to reports from Manchester Evening News, Manchester City would not match Arsenal's £105 million offer for Declan Rice.

On Monday night, City formally entered the contest with their own offer, which the Hammers also rejected.

Following up on Pulse Sport report from the transfer yesterday after David Ornstein’s Twitter, the north London team raised the stakes on Tuesday night by making a club-record offer of £100 million plus an additional £5 million in add-ons.

City have now withdrawn from the competition for the 24-year-old as a result of that offer, giving Mikel Arteta and Arsenal a significant advantage in their pursuit of their top target.

According to Football London, West Ham and Arsenal intend to hold additional talks today in an effort to strike a deal about the specifics of the transfer, with the amount of time it will take to pay the fixed £100 million cost being the last sticking point.

The Gunners' first and second bids were rejected based on the amount, the structure of the deal and the number of years the payment will be made.

West Ham are now in intense negotiation with Arsenal as they look to clarify the payment structure of the deal before accepting their bid. 

Arteta has been a big admirer of the West Ham Captain and sees him as the player who can take them to the next level next season.

The Gunners have decided to smash their transfer record for Rice and close in on a potential transfer for the superstar.
