3 players Manchester United could offer West Ham to hijack Declan Rice transfer
Declan Rice is clearly the biggest headline of the summer with Arsenal and Manchester City going to war for his signature.
Arsenal are so desperate to bring him to the Emirates that they have made a British record bid for his services that West Ham somehow still have not accepted, at the time of writing.
Should Manchester United decided to press forward with a bid, there are a few players they can throw in to make the Hammers consider a sale.
1. Harry Maguire
David Moyes has shown interest in Maguire over the past 12 months and might be interested in listening to a proposal.
The Man United captain has fallen way down the pecking order since his move to Old Trafford 4 years ago.
Erik ten Hag is open to letting him leave the club this summer and if he wants to remain in contention for Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024, he'll need to find a team that offers him playing time.
2. Scott McTominay
The Scotland midfielder is another one who has lost his way at Old Trafford. He clearly does not figure in Ten Hag's future plans and despite coming through the academy, does not retain the trust of the fans.
Versatile, hard-working, and willing to do a job for the team, the 26-year-old represents an ideal David Moyes player and could slot into defensive midfield in place of Rice.
3. Donny van de Beek
Van de Beek has done next to nothing since arriving for 40m from Ajax two years ago and certainly needs a career reset. He still possesses an uncanny ability to find spaces and finish at a high level.
West Ham have rekindled several dwindling careers over the years, including the likes of Kurt Zouma, Emerson Palmieri, and Thilo Kehrer, so perhaps Van de Beek can follow in their footsteps.
