The Austrian visitors never really stood a chance at Anfield and Liverpool made it clear with an early goal from Luis Diaz in the 12th minute.

Diaz's header was followed swiftly by another goal, scored this time by Cody Gakpo off a Mohamed Salah assist in the 16th minute.

The roles would then be reversed just shortly after the restart when Gakpo won a penalty which was converted by Salah.

That 51st minute goal is the 199th Salah has scored for Liverpool, a superb achievement for the Egyptian winger who joined the club in 2017.

Liverpool continued to dominate proceedings and suppress Linz's approaces and went on to add a fourth in the closing stages of the game.

Gakpo's 92nd minute goal sealed the result and Liverpool's 10th consecutive win at Anfield.
