Ligue 1: Nice Terem Moffi show blows Lens away
Nigerian striker Terem Moffi proved to be the difference maker as OGC Nice kept the pressure on Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 with a brilliant win.
Moffi came off the bench to steal the show witn a fantastic brace as Nice defeated Lens 2-0 to return to winning ways on Wednesday night.
Moffi show inspires Nice
For the second successive match, the 24-year-old found himself on the Nice bench as his manager looked to engineer a return to winning ways after the defeat to Le Havre the last time.
However, there would no denying Moffi his glory as the match remained deadlocked at 0-0 after 72 minutes.
He would replace Gaetan Laborde in the 72nd minute and three minutes later, his introduction paid off as the Nigerian forward fired Nice in front from the spot.
Two minutes after his opener, Moffi was at it again, this time latching on to a headed pass from Jeremie Boga to all but seal the win and three points with his second of the game from the bench.
In 18 minutes, the AFCON-bound Moffi created one chance, made one key pass, and scored with his two attempted shots.
In terms of his tally this season, the goals against Lens have taken him to six goals and two assists in 13 starts in the French Ligue 1.
What Nice's result means
OGC Nice continue to pile on the pressure on defending champions, PSG, with the win against Lens taking them to within five points of the holders, who sit at the top of the standings.
Lens’ defeat was their first in five matches and leaves them seventh on the log with 26 points.
