Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger set for coaching role at Stamford Bridge
Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set for a sensational return to coaching as Arsenal and Chelsea clash at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko and former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko will lead a team of former Arsenal and Chelsea players to battle for aid for Ukraine.
The game which has been tagged Game4Ukraine will see former Arsenal boss Wenger manager the Arsenal side at Stamford Bridge.
Wenger returns to management
According to a report from TalkSport, the Game4Ukraine battle is slated for August 5 at Stamford Bridge in aid of Ukraine.
Ukrainian superstars Zinchenko and Shevchenko have combined with their President to aid the humanitarian crisis in their home country following the invasion by Russia.
The game is expected to raise funds that will go into the reconstruction of the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynsky School in Chernihiv Oblast which was struck by missiles.
The match will include an extended half-time music show to attract fans, but looking at the stars on the pitch, there’s little doubt it will be a sell-out anyway.
Game4Ukraine teams
Both Zinchenko and Shevchenko are expected to lead two teams, the former will lead the Arsenal side while the latter will lead the Blues with both sides set to feature legends.
Shevchenko’s team will be managed by the England Women’s national team boss Emma Hayes, with former Chelsea players Michael Essien, Claude Makelele, Ricardo Carvalho, Gianfranco Zola, William Galas, Samuel Eto’o and Carlo Cudicini to feature.
For the Arsenal side, former manager Wenger will be in the dugout with Jens Lehmann, Per Mertesacker, Robert Pires, Partick Vieira, Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna.
Other former superstars who will take part in the encounter are current Chelsea winger and Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk also joins the team alongside Serie A legends Clarence Seedorf, Luca Toni, Dida, Massimo Oddo and Fabio Cannavaro
