Kylian Mbappe revealed that he maintained a good relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez despite passing on the chance to join the club on two separate occasions.
The 25-year-old eventually joined Los Blancos last summer, fulfilling a childhood dream, and is now being cheered on by the Santiago Bernabeu. However, he used to be the subject of ire for Real Madrid faithful.

Mbappe denied Los Blancos twice
The France international first turned down Real Madrid as a teenager after he tried out at the club. The Spanish champions rolled out the red carpet for him and united him with an idol of his, Zinedine Zidane; however, the one-time World Cup winner opted to continue his career in France.
Then came the summer of 2022, when it seemed a done deal that the winger-cum-striker would join the Spanish side, as his PSG contract was set to expire.
After reportedly agreeing to join Los Merengues verbally, he made a U-turn, signing a contract extension with the Parisians on bumper terms.
That incident angered many of the Real Madrid persuasion and sparked reports that club president Florentino Perez felt the same way. Reports also claimed that Perez would not return for Mbappe. However, the player reveals in a recent interview that that was not the case, evident in the jersey he sports nowadays.
What Mbappe said
“It wasn’t easy. But with the president, I always had a good relationship,” Kylian revealed to Ana Pastor on La Sexta. Even when I stayed in Paris, he was there for me.
“He showed affection to me and my family, and that makes the difference. I respect him deeply. I always tell him I’ll give everything for the club and for him so that the Madrid fans are proud.”
Meanwhile, Mbappe could lead Real Madrid to a treble in his first season at the club. They are in the Copa del Rey final, are second in LALIGA with three points behind leaders Barcelona, and have a date with Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final.
