Amanda Serrano defeated Erika Cruz via unanimous decision on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Serrano got off to a very slow start to dominate the encounter in the latter stages.

The Puerto Rican did damage to Cruz in the third round with a nasty cut to her forehead as blood gushed out for the rest of the fight.

After 10 rounds of action, Judges Frank Lombardi (98-92) and Steve Weisfeld (98-92) scored eight rounds apiece for Serrano while judge Mark Constantino had seven rounds for Serrano (97-93).

Serrano's victory against Cruz at the Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York now makes her the undisputed super-featherweight women's champion.

Speaking to DAZN in the ring after the fight, Seranno praised the effort of Cruz and celebrated her triumph.

She said,  “She’s a Mexican champion. And we knew that, and I said it from the very beginning. I knew she wasn’t just gonna let me take her belt. 

"She worked hard for this, I worked hard for mine. And that’s what we expected, that’s what we trained for. But I wouldn’t expect any less than that.”

Victory against Cruz means that Serrano now sets up a rematch against Katie Taylor

Back in 2022, Taylor in a historic fight recorded a massive unanimous victory against Serrano at Madison Square Garden.

They are now set for a rematch in Ireland that was confirmed in the ring after Seranno defeated Cruz.

Serrano and Taylor posed for pictures in the ring showing off their undisputed titles.

Taylor the unbeaten lightweight champion excited to have the rematch in her country said, "This is more than a dream come true.

"My debut in Ireland against Amanda Serrano, ‘The Real Deal’ Amanda Serrano. This is incredible. The last fight was epic and I expect nothing less for the next one."

Serrano added, "It will be bigger and more competitive than the first fight. Now I know what I have to do."
