Kamaru Usman backs Alex Pereira to beat Dricus du Plessis

Nigerian Nightmare Kamaru Usman has stated his preference for the UFC Welterweight division.

Kamaru Usman discussed why he would prefer the Brazilian to raise his hand in a possible fight between Alex Pereira and Dricus du Plessis.

He pointed out that before he can persuade him otherwise, the South African has more to prove.

Du Plessis earned his second consecutive middleweight championship defence with a unanimous decision win against Sean Strickland at UFC 312.

Then, after defeating Khamzat Chimaev, the South African gave 'Poatan', who was standing at Strickland's side, a special callout and indicated interest in taking him on at 205 pounds.

'The Nigerian Nightmare' examined the possible champion vs. champion bout in the most recent episode of his Pound 4 Pound podcast, following cohost Henry Cejudo's support for the middleweight king.

Usman disagreed and supported 'Poatan' in the possible conflict.

Usman stated that he still doubts du Plessis' chances because Pereira has triumphed over many well-regarded opponents, but he would reconsider if the South African keeps winning titles.
