Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has issued a clear and demanding mandate to the club's interim co-coaches, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, for the remainder of the season.

Following a trophyless campaign, the Amakhosi leadership is now focused on securing a place in continental competition.

With the league title out of reach, the club's primary objective is to finish in a CAF qualification spot, with a top-three finish required to enter the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kaizer Chiefs Set Target For Co-Coaches

Speaking on radio station 947, Motaung Jr. emphasised the urgency of the situation. "We need to finish the season in a Champions League position," he stated, setting an ambitious target of a top-two finish.

"It’s about results; the last few results have not been coming, and we need to get results as soon as possible. Results need to come; otherwise, decisions are going to be made, that’s as clear as it is."

Motaung Jr. acknowledged the fans' frustrations and stressed that performance would dictate the future, regardless of existing contracts.

"You could have a contract until the end of the year, but it’s about the results and performance," he explained. "The club will announce and sincerely communicate its direction at the time it needs to. I hear where the fans come from. We’re going to make decisive decisions at the correct time."

The immediate focus is on the two matches before the upcoming FIFA international break. Kaizer Chiefs are set to face Durban City and Magesi FC, and Motaung Jr. has demanded maximum points.

"We have two games before the FIFA break, Durban City and Magesi, very important," he said. "We need to go out and make sure we get the six points."

The Soweto giants will first host Durban City at FNB Stadium on Sunday, March 15. A victory in that fixture could propel them back into the top three on the league table, strengthening their push for a return to African football.

A week later, they will take on a struggling Magesi side, providing another crucial opportunity to build momentum and end the month on a positive note as they chase their continental aspirations.
