The Villans took the lead just before the 15-minute mark when Youri Tielemans headed home John McGinn's corner, beating Bernd Leno. Tielemans nearly doubled the lead before halftime, while Emiliano Martinez made a routine save from Alex Iwobi's shot.

After the break, both teams created opportunities. Fulham thought they had equalised when Ryan Sessegnon scored, but the goal was ruled out for handball in the build up.

Harry Wilson had a brilliant chance, but he could not lift the ball over Martinez. Villa's Ollie Watkins also had a shot saved by Leno. Ultimately, Villa held firm to secure a vital win, moving them level with Chelsea in fifth. Fulham on the other hand saw their quest for European football suffer a hit.
