'It Is Hard To Watch'- Former Manchester United Coach Slams Struggles Under Ruben Amorim

Former Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shed light on the Red Devils' woes under Ruben Amorim.

Solskjaer, who was succeeded by Amorim's predecessor Erik ten Hag, has described United as hard to watch under the Portuguese tactician.

United have endured a horrid campaign under Amorim that began to unravel during Ten Hag’s tenure.

Solskjaer now manages Turkish side Besiktas, but Manchester United's affairs are never far removed from his thoughts.

"Man United is my family and will always be part of me," he told BBC Sports.

"In football, you don't feel sorry for anyone because we are privileged, absolutely 100% privileged to be able to work in clubs like this."

But for me, it is hard to watch because it is your family that is struggling. It is never easy at the weekend when you look at the table," he added.

United under Amorim find themselves languishing in 15th with a meagre 39 points at this point of the season.

Last weekend saw them lose 4-3 to Brentford, further denting their hopes of placing higher.

United were 7th on the log when the Norwegian was dismissed in 2021 following a string of poor results.

United's hopes now are fully dependent on their Europa League triumph.

Following United's 3-0 first-leg win over Athletic Bilbao, they look set for the final—but had to toil hard to overcome Lyon in the semi-finals.

A late Harry Maguire winner sealed a 7-6 aggregate win, 5-4 on the night, to progress.

The former United coach spoke highly of United’s semi-final hero alongside captain Bruno Fernandes, who helped inspire the comeback against Lyon.

"For me, Harry (Maguire) has always been a leader and a fighter," Solskjaer said.

"I was never in doubt when I signed him, and when he walked in the door, I knew he would be captain for us," he added.

"There is another captain there in Bruno [Fernandes]. The two of them are top human beings," he continued.

The duo are expected to play a crucial role when United host Bilbao for the return leg on Saturday, with hopes of securing a final clash against either Tottenham Hotspur or Bodo Glimt.
