Inter set to hijack Manchester United top target Pavard
2022/23 UEFA Champions League finalists Inter have made moves to hijack Benjamin Pavard’s services from under Manchester United’s nose after reportedly submitting an offer for the Frenchman to Bayern Munich.
Inter make opening bid for Benjamin Pavard
According to the German paper BILD, Inter made their opening bid for Pavard, valued at €25 million, in an attempt to land the French World Cup winner this summer.
Inter are late suitors for Pavard, who are in the hunt for a new centre-back to bolster their options going into the new season after losing Milan Skriniar to PSG earlier in the transfer window.
Pavard is also on the radar of Manchester United, who are in need of defensive reinforcements themselves and were thought to be ahead of other clubs in the race to sign the Frenchman.
Pavard moves closer to Inter deal
Manchester United had sought a deal for Pavard as a replacement for ex-captain Harry Maguire, who was destined for a move away from the club, although his decision to snub West Ham to remain at Old Trafford might have cooled the Red Devils’ interest in the Bayern Munich defender.
Nevertheless, Pavard is keen to leave Bayern Munich this season, and Bayern Munich are desperate to sell the defender before next summer or risk losing him for free when his contract expires.
According to Sky Italia, Pavard has reached a verbal agreement with Inter ahead of a possible move and could be set for a move when Inter move closer to Bayern Munich’s valuation of the defender, which is said to be between €35-€40 million.
