Inter Miami sign another Barcelona legend after Messi capture

MLS side Inter Miami have signed another Barcelona legend, Sergio Busquets, after securing the move for the Blaugrana’s greatest-ever player, Lionel Messi.

Busquets and Messi played together for most of their careers after coming through Barcelona’s La Masia youth set-up.

The pair conquered Spain and Europe together between 2008 and 2021 as they featured for Barcelona’s senior team for several years, becoming friends off the pitch as well.

Inter Miami announced that Busquets would be joining Messi with managing owner Jorge Mas saying, "I am excited to welcome Sergio Busquets to Inter Miami. Since day one we have set out to bring the world's best players. Sergio's repertoire speaks for itself."

Busquets, who made his debut for Barcelona in 2008, went on to have a superb career with the Blaugrana, gaining the reputation of being one of the best players in his position of all time, before retiring as captain in 2023.

The ex-Spain captain played in 772 games for Barcelona, winning the LaLiga title 10 times and the UEFA Champions League title on three occasions in 2009, 2011, and 2015.

On the international scene, Busquets also helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championships, eventually also becoming captain of the side before retiring in 2022 after the World Cup in Qatar.
