OFFICIAL: Inter Miami confirm Lionel Messi signing on free transfer

Finally, the news the footballing world has been waiting for. Inter Miami have officially confirmed the arrival of Lionel Messi.

The club released the official statement ahead of unveiling at its DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday.

Messi officially joins the MLS side after a two-year spell at French champions PSG, where he turned down the chance to renew his deal in favour of a move away from Europe.

"I'm very excited to start this next step in my career with Inter Miami and in the United States," Messi said. "This is a fantastic opportunity and together we will continue to build this beautiful project. 

"The idea is to work together to achieve the objectives we set, and I'm very eager to start helping here in my new home."
