What Idah said

Speaking on Channels Television, Idah voiced optimism about the team’s chances, pointing to Nigeria’s superior squad depth, form, and historical dominance against the Panthers.

“Naturally, we should win. In the last 60 years we’ve played games against Gabon, they’ve only beaten us once, so we have an advantage, and we are Nigeria," he said.

Idah praised the quality within the Super Eagles setup, emphasising that the team’s recent return to strong attacking form should give them confidence heading into the encounter.

“I’m so proud to be part of this great country; we’ve produced potential. We have everything we need to succeed. We should beat Gabon. We are coming from a four-goal victory, which we have not achieved in months, and that momentum matters,” he added.

The former Super Eagles shot-stopper also highlighted the importance of star striker Victor Osimhen, whose consistent goal-scoring ability he believes could make the difference in the match.

“Thank God we have a talisman in Osimhen; he’s scoring goals. We will win,” Idah concluded.

The Super Eagles face Gabon in Rabat, Morocco, as part of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with Nigeria aiming to avoid missing back-to-back tournaments.
