'I don hang boot' - Boniface confirms 'retirement' from Super Eagles after poor outing against Russia

Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface has taken to social media following another disappointing performance for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

On the occasion of his 13th international cap, Boniface struggled to make an impact as Nigeria came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Russia.

Starting the match but failing to influence the game, Boniface was substituted in the 61st minute for Toluwase Arokodare, who went on to score the crucial equaliser and rescue the Eagles from defeat.

In Nigerian parlance “I don hang boot” means “I have hung my boot” suggesting that Boniface may be signaling his decision to step away from the national team, at least for now.
