Oliver Glasner has publicly confirmed that captain Marc Guéhi will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the current season, despite the club's efforts to retain him.
The England defender was the subject of intense speculation last summer, with a potential £35 million move to Liverpool collapsing after Palace decided Guehi's presence was more valuable than the immediate fee.
However, his reluctance to extend his contract beyond 2026 has always made a free transfer a likely outcome. Glasner admitted that the club must now prepare for life without their captain.
“I think Marc has already told us that he doesn’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year,” Glasner admitted.
“The club wanted [him to stay]. They offered Marc a new contract. But he said, ‘No, I want to make something different.’ And that’s normal.
🚨 Marc Guehi will leave Crystal Palace as free agent in June 2026 and won’t sign new deal at the club, confirmed.

"For us, it’s how can we deal with this situation? [What] is the best way to get this next step done? And that’s all about how we are talking together.”
While clubs could attempt a last-minute transfer in January, the England international is expected to finish the season at Selhurst Park before departing when his contract expires.
He has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and potentially Liverpool.
