Kylian Mbappé made history with a stunning hat-trick in Real Madrid's 4-3 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.
The France forward's three goals took his season tally to 39, breaking the record for most goals scored in a debut season at the club.
Mbappé's hat-trick at Montjuïc saw him surpass Ivan Zamorano's record of 37 goals, set in the 1992-93 season.
Despite the loss, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Mbappé's performance, saying, "Mbappé did well. The chances we had were very clear, we attacked the space well."
He continued, "We could have defended better. In the first 30 minutes, we should have done better. We mustn't forget that we were missing five defenders today."
He added, "Twice, we had the chance to make it 4-4. It was an even game, we competed and fought until the last second."
The France forward has been consistent throughout the season, scoring goals in big games.
He has now scored in three of Madrid's four Clásicos against Barça and recently surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo's 33-goal tally from the 2009-10 season.
