Harambee Stars fans in Nairobi who are without tickets have learned where they will watch the Kenya vs Zambia 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) encounter.

The government finally yielded to pressure to set aside designated fan zones for supporters to watch matches on giant screens after the high demand for tickets led to an overflow of fans into Kasarani Stadium that has landed Kenya heavy fines from CAF.

Kenya was slapped with a Ksh6.5 million fine on Wednesday for the security breach before and during the Harambee Stars match against Morocco, which led to fans overflowing into Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, adding onto more that had been handed to the country that brings it to a total of Ksh11 million from just three matches.

The government on Wednesday revealed that there will be six fan zones in Nairobi for football-thirsty fans who will be without tickets with three areas closer to Kasarani Stadium among them.

Where Will Ticketless Fans Watch Matches From?

In the Nairobi Central Business District, there will be a giant screen at Uhuru Park for fans to watch the match, while plans are underway to have another one in Lucky Summer - Ngomongo area (behind Kasarani Stadium), Dandora Stadium, Utalii (Stima Club), Kibera DC and Jacaranda grounds.

The government and football Kenya Federation have been sensitizing fans on the need to behave well on Sunday to avoid landing Kenya in more trouble with the risk of Harambee Stars playing their home matches away from the country now real.

“I affirmed the Government’s unwavering support to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) in ensuring a safe, well-organized, and vibrant continental tournament by enhancing the operations of key organizers and event committees as I also welcomed CAF’s guidance and reinforced stewardship in delivering a successful continental tournament,” Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said after meeting CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba on Wednesday.

Harambee Stars’ unbeaten run at CHAN 2024 so far has given fans belief and there is a lot of excitement with the national team, leading to interest in match tickets which have been insufficient which has contributed to forceful entry into the stadium.

Kenya will secure their place in the quarter-final and a place on top of Group A with a win against the Chipolpolo at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
