Harambee Stars Prospect Earns High Praise After Switch from Bayern Munich to Bundesliga Rivals
Harambee Stars prospect Sadiki Chemwor has earned high praise over his qualities after sealing a move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt from Bayern Munich.
The 18-year-old winger has agreed to a professional contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, which he will officially join on a free transfer on July 1, 2026, upon the expiration of his current deal with Bayern.
Chemwor is slated to begin his journey at Frankfurt with the U21 team, which competes in the club's newly-established U21 league structure.
The youngster is among Kenyan prospects in Germany who Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy is keen to add to his team ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and his move to Frankfurt will present him with an opportunity to develop further.
Frankfurt Boss in Awe of Chemwor
Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director, Timmo Hardung is revving about Chemwor and has expressed his confidence in the young talent's future.
"Sadiki Chemwor is a highly talented player with an excellent football education," he told the club's website. "We are firmly convinced that he can continue to develop his potential at Eintracht Frankfurt. His quality, game intelligence and mentality make him a player we believe has a very exciting future."
The winger joins Frankfurt with a decade of development at Bayern Munich, having joined their academy from TSV Milbertshofen at just eight years old. He progressed through the ranks in Bavaria, representing both the U17 and U19 squads.
Meteoric Rise of Kenyan Prospect
Since the start of the 2023-24 season, Chemwor has accumulated 55 appearances for Bayern's youth teams, contributing eight goals and 12 assists. This season, he has featured in 19 matches, scoring twice and setting up five goals while competing in high-level youth tournaments like the DFB Youth League, UEFA Youth League, and the DFB Cup.
His impressive performances have also earned him international recognition. Chemwor has been capped five times for Germany at the U16 and U17 levels. In addition to his German and Kenyan eligibility—the latter through his father—he also holds British citizenship, making him a potential candidate for England's national teams.
Frankfurt's acquisition of Chemwor is a key part of their long-term strategy to nurture promising young players. The club believes his technical skills and strong football foundation mark him as a prospect to watch closely.
