AIK Fotboll secured a significant talent acquisition with the signing of the Kenyan youngster from Kariobangi Sharks in August 2024.

The agreement, which runs until December 2027, marked a major step in Stanley Wilson’s career, realising a dream after impressing the club during several trial periods.

Erick Marcelo Ouma on the Quality Stanley Wilson Possesses

Erick Marcelo Ouma, speaking in an interview with Studio AIK Live, opened up about his relationship with Stanley Wilson, explaining that the two travelled together to Sweden as he was going for his treatment.

He revealed that they have known each other for many years. The Harambee Stars defender added that Stanley Wilson is a talented player, noting that earning a move to AIK is proof of his quality.

Erick Marcelo Ouma added that he has naturally taken on a mentorship role, guiding Stanley Wilson where needed, encouraging him when things are going well and stepping in with support when challenges arise.

He emphasised that his main advice to the young player is to stay focused, since football can shift quickly, with one season going smoothly and the next presenting unexpected changes.

“I came here with Stanley Wilson, yeah, we are both from Kenya. I’ve known him for a long time. He is a good player, and for AIK to sign you means that you’re a good player. I’m like a mentor to him because I have to show him the way,” Erick Marcelo Ouma said.

“If something is going well, then bravo, but if it’s not, then that’s where I come in. My best advice for him is to just maintain his focus because football can change…one season things can be going well, and then in another season they just change.”

Currently, Stanley Wilson is on loan at Swedish third-tier club Enköpings SK to gain valuable senior playing time, with his sights set on returning to AIK stronger to help the team achieve its goal of winning the Allsvenskan league.
