Harambee Stars defender plays full 90 minutes as Viborg endures second league defeat

Two-cap Kenyan international Daniel Anyembe played the full 90 minutes as a right back while Viborg endured their second defeat of the season, falling to Randers FC in a Danish Superliga clash held at Cepheus Park on Friday.

Anyembe had a good individual performance in the defeat, making two clearances, attempting four tackles and winning five of his seven ground duels.

On the ball, he was fouled once, made seven out of twelve accurate long balls, was successful at passing the ball 60 times in 71 attempts from 105 touches of the ball.

It nonetheless could not prevent Viborg from suffering defeat.

Viborg had a difficult start to the match, as  a lack of sharpness in the execution of their passes made them find it very difficult to gain some sort of rhythm to the match.

Viborg lost  the ball several times, giving the home team opportunities to go ahead , and in the 28th minute went a goal down. Randers fought for a corner kick, which was well delivered onto the head of Wessel Dammers, who then put  hosts into the lead.

In the wake of the score, the Viborg offense  livened up a bit, creating a handful of half-chances in attempts to equalize, but they could not find the right key to unlock the door.

Viborg came out aggressively after the break, and for long periods pressed Randers into backing up.

The VFF swarmed around the home team's field, but time and time again, they could not find a way to equalize.

They however created quite a realistic opportunity just after an our played as  Anosike Ementa snuck through the Randers defense and came 1-on-1 with Patrik Carlgren, but the lanky striker’s resultant shot sailed wide off the mark.

VFF huffed and puffed, but could not find a way to equalize. Anyembe will be hoping to help his side return to winning ways against Danish giants FC Copenhagen.
