Job Ochieng Stuns in A High-Octane Clash at Zubieta
Playing at the Zubieta training ground, the match started at a frantic pace. While Deportivo La Coruña took an early lead through Stoichkov in the second minute, Real Sociedad B battled back.
After Lander Astiazaran levelled the scoring, it was Job Ochieng who stepped up to give the Basque side the advantage.
In the 59th minute, Job Ochieng showcased his clinical finishing, finding the back of the net to put Real Sociedad 2–1 ahead.
It was a goal that reflected his growing confidence and tactical maturity. Unfortunately, late drama saw Deportivo snatch a 3–2 victory with goals in the 83rd and 94th minutes, leaving Job Ochieng’s heroics as a bittersweet highlight of the afternoon.
Job Ochieng has been in inspired form over the last few weeks, cementing his place as a pivotal figure for Ion Ansotegui’s side.
His goal against Deportivo follows a string of impressive performances against Cádiz (Feb 23). Job Ochieng scored in a 2–0 away victory. Against Málaga (Feb 16), he netted the decisive goal in a 2–1 win.
With four goals and two assists in 19 appearances this season, Job Ochieng has become the primary attacking outlet for the B team while simultaneously knocking on the door of the senior squad.
Job Ochieng: Rewarded with a Landmark Contract Extension
The club’s hierarchy has not been blind to Job Ochieng’s rapid ascent. Following his historic La Liga debut against Elche on February 7, 2026, where he became only the third Kenyan to play in Spain's top flight after McDonald Mariga and Michael Olunga, Real Sociedad moved swiftly to secure his future.
In late February, the club officially announced that Job Ochieng signed a contract extension until 2028. This new deal is a massive vote of confidence, transitioning him from a promising academy product to a core part of the club's long-term project.
The extension comes amid interest from several clubs across Europe, but the Nairobi-born winger seems intent on making his mark in San Sebastián.
