Harambee Stars Abroad: Delight for Timothy Ouma and Jonah Ayunga, More Pain for Joseph Okumu
Harambee Stars players had contrasting fortunes at their respective clubs abroad with Timothy Ouma and Jonah Ayunga among those who were on the winning sides.
Ouma had a great weekend as he started for Polish giants Lech Poznan in their 2-0 league win over Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza on Saturday.
The midfielder played all 90 minutes in the contest that saw Swedish striker Mikael Ishak score both goals as Lech Poznan bounced back to winning ways with the victory leaving them in sixth place on the table with 13 points from seven games, four behind leaders Crocovia, who have played a game more.

Ouma has become an important player since making a loan switch to the Polish club from Czech giants Slavia Prague, featuring in four of their seven league games, although this was his first start in the division.
Cup Quarter-Final Win for Ayunga
Meanwhile, in Scotland, Kenyan striker Jonah Ayunga also started for St Mirren as they secured a 5-2 win on post-match penalties against Kilmarnock to sail through to the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup.
Ayunga was not on target as both teams played out a 2-2 draw in regulation time, forcing the contest to be decided on penalties, where Stephen Robinson’s men won 5-2 for a place in the semi-final.
While Ouma and Ayunga are reveling in wins, it is more pain for defender Joseph Okumu who is having to watch from distance as Stade Reims struggle for consistency in the French second division.
More Concerns for Okumu’s Reims
Okumu suffered relegation from French Ligue 1 last season but their start to life in the second tier has been less than impressive with two wins, two draws and as many defeats, which does not inspire confidence of an immediate return to the top flight.
Reims’ latest defeat was a 3-2 reverse away to St Etienne on Saturday, when Teddy Teuma scored twice for the visitors, while Lucas Stassin had a brace for the home side before Igor Miladivonic netted the winner.
Okumu continues to sit out after suffering a serious knee injury in August that could see him miss most of the season.
