Girona improve stunning LaLiga record against Real Madrid
Girona beat Real Madrid 4-2 in LaLiga to ensure that they went the entire 2022/23 season unbeaten against their much more illustrious opponents on Tuesday night, effectively swinging the LaLiga race in favour of their neighbours Barcelona.
Girona secure impressive win against Real Madrid
The Catalan club had already taken a point of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu earlier in the season, and have now followed that up with their second win in three LaLiga games against Los Blancos, failing to lose a match in the league against them since 2018.
Indeed, Girona have become something of a bogey team for Real Madrid and have one of, if not the most impressive, records against Los Blancos in LaLiga.
Their latest win over Real Madrid, helped by a virtuoso display by Argentine forward Valentin Castellanos was another example of the small club standing up to one of the biggest clubs in the land, and helped them to a new outstanding record against Los Blancos.
Girona set new milestones against Real Madrid
With the 4-2 win over Real Madrid at the Estadi Montilivi, Girona became the team with the best win percentage against Los Blancos in LaLiga history, winning their third game in six fixtures against the reigning European champions.
1 - Girona have the best winning percentage (50% - G6 W3 D1 L2) and the best goals per game ratio (2.16 - 13 goals in 6 games, minimum three matches) against Real Madrid than any other team in LaLiga history. Heroic. pic.twitter.com/XnuWePzxPP

They have beaten Real Madrid more often than they have lost, and their record of three wins, one draw, and two losses is the best any side that has played three or more matches against Los Blancos has managed against them in LaLiga history.
In addition to that the 13 goals that they have scored against Real Madrid in those games means they have the best goals-per-game ratio against Los Blancos.
Real Madrid will be thankful that Girona do not play in the UEFA Champions League as they go for a 15th European crown knowing that they have most likely lost the race for this season’s league title.
