According to Nefes, the Turkish giants are actively exploring a deal to bring the 33-year-old winger to Istanbul, as part of their ongoing “star policy” a recruitment strategy that has already seen high-profile signings such as Victor Osimhen, and Ilkay Gündogan.

Salary could be the biggest obstacle

While Galatasaray’s management is said to be keen on finalising the transfer, Salah’s €25 million annual salary at Liverpool remains a major stumbling block.

The Turkish side reportedly hopes to persuade the player to accept a reduced wage package closer to €15 million per year, citing his age and recent dip in form as key negotiation points.

Despite this, insiders believe the lure of a new challenge and the opportunity to play in front of one of Europe’s most passionate fanbases could tempt Salah to consider the move.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 for €42 million, Salah has become one of the Premier League’s most iconic players.

In 411 appearances, the Egyptian talisman has scored 248 goals and registered 116 assists, helping the Reds to a Premier League title, a UEFA Champions League trophy, an FA Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Salah remains under contract with Liverpool until 2027, and his current market value is estimated at €50 million, according to Transfermarkt.
