Farming is better: Frustrated fans attack ex-Super Eagles coach Finidi George as title hope fades
Frustration is mounting among Rivers United fans as the team continues to struggle in the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, failing to secure a win in their last four matches.
The latest disappointment came on Thursday when Rivers United managed only a 2-2 draw against Bendel Insurance at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, leaving supporters questioning the direction of the club under head coach Finidi George.

The match saw Rivers United twice come from behind to level the score, but it was not enough to satisfy the home crowd.
The visitors took an early lead through Meyuwa Oritseweyimi in the sixth minute, putting pressure on the Pride of Rivers. Ubong Friday equalised with a stunning strike from 25 yards out in the 34th minute, but Uche Collins restored Bendel Insurance's lead just four minutes into the second half.
Handsome Surveyor's close-range goal in the 51st minute salvaged a point for Rivers United, but the overall performance left much to be desired.
This draw has dropped Rivers United to third place in the NPFL standings, now seven points adrift of leaders Remo Stars after 21 matches.
The fans did not hold back their disappointment, taking to social media to voice their frustrations. Comments ranged from “Most useless club in NPFL” to “Farming is the better option,” highlighting a growing discontent with the team's lack of progress.
One fan lamented, “I was disappointed. There was so much time to score the third goal and win the game. The league is there for the taking now for Remo Stars.” Such sentiments reflect a wider concern that United's title hopes are fading as they struggle to find form.
Looking ahead, Rivers United will face Heartland in Owerri on Sunday, a critical match that could determine whether they can regain momentum in their season. With fans increasingly restless and expectations high, Finidi George faces mounting pressure to turn things around and restore faith in his leadership.
Both players and coaching staff will need to rally together to meet the aspirations of their supporters and reclaim their position as title contenders in Nigerian football.
