FKF Cup: AFC Leopards brush aside Dero as Gor Mahia scare away KSG Ogopa to headline round of 64 action

AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia showcased their dominance in the FKF Cup round of 64, comfortably dispatching their respective opponents on Sunday afternoon to advance to the next stage. 

Other top-flight clubs, including Mara Sugar, Ulinzi Stars, and Bandari, also secured smooth passages into the round of 32. Here’s a recap of the action.

AFC Leopards made light work of Dero FC in Siaya, putting on a commanding performance to win 3-1.

The Leopards asserted their authority early on, with goals from Masaba Julius, captain Cliff Miheso, and Sydney Lokale ensuring they had a comfortable cushion by halftime.

Gor Mahia strolled to a 3-0 victory over KSG Ogopa, with Samuel Onyango opening the scoring in the 23rd minute after a well-timed assist from Paul Ochuoga. 

However, the match had an early setback for Gor Mahia as Levin Odhiambo suffered an injury in the first minute, forcing an early substitution, with Bryson Wangai taking his place.

Philemon Otieno received a yellow card in the 35th minute for a reckless challenge, but that did little to slow down the FKF Premier League leaders. 

Boniface Omondi doubled the lead before Austin Odhiambo sealed the win with a third goal, securing Gor Mahia’s spot in the next round.

Webuye Sportiff vs. Mara Sugar – Mara Sugar comfortably dispatched Webuye Sportiff 2-0 at Ilala Grounds.

Marafiki vs. Bidco United – Bidco United edged out Marafiki 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.

Superior Hotel vs. Kenya Police – Kenya Police registered a 3-0 win, with Mohammed Bajaber netting a brace before David Irishura added the third goal.

Rwafa FC vs. Bandari – Bandari cruised past Rwafa FC with a 2-0 win, courtesy of goals from Beja Nyamawi and Jackson Dwang.

Desert Scorpions vs. Jumbo T – Jumbo T staged a stunning comeback from two goals down to win 3-2 and book their spot in the round of 32.
