Ralf Rangnick made history for Austria at the European Championship finals after Tuesday’s 3-2 win over the Netherlands.
Netherlands vs Austria
Ronald Koeman’s men fell behind after six minutes after Donyell Malen inadvertently scored at the wrong end, but Cody Gakpo levelled two minutes into the second half to put the Oranje back level.
Parity was restored for 12 minutes as Romano Schmid made it 2-1 for Rangnick's men just before the hour and it stayed that way until Memphis Depay levelled for the Dutch with 15 minutes remaining.
However, Austria were to have the final laugh in Berlin as Marcel Sabitzer netted with 10 minutes left to seal the victory for the Group D winners.
How Rangnick helped Austria create history at Euro 2024
Much-maligned for his spell at Premier League side Manchester United, Rangnick has thrived with the Austria national team, culminating in their group-stage success.
Austria have won back-to-back games at a major international tournament for the first time in 42 years.

Never before had Das Team finished top of their section at the European Championship finals, and they achieved that by defeating the Netherlands for the first time since 1990 after seven straight losses to the Oranje.
What comes next?
The upshot of ending atop Group D means Austria face the runner-up in Group F — currently Turkiye — in their last-16 match on July 2.
