Arokodare, a target for Bayern Munich, took to social media after the match to address those who dismissed the competition.

"Say I won't win anything this season. Call it a backyard tournament if you want. A cup is a cup," the 24-year-old posted, as shared on X.

This defiant statement seems to be a response to criticism Arokodare received after a trophyless season with Genk in Belgium. Despite limited playing time in the Unity Cup, he made a crucial contribution, confidently converting his penalty in the shootout.

Nigeria's path to victory included a win against Ghana in the Jollof Derby before overcoming Jamaica in the final. These back-to-back wins provide a positive start for new head coach Eric Chelle.

While it may not be the Champions League, the Unity Cup victory is a significant achievement for Arokodare and a trophy he's proud to celebrate with his national team.
