The Portuguese superstar, 41, was substituted with less than 10 minutes remaining in the match after signaling to the bench that he was injured. He appeared to be in discomfort as he left the field and was later seen with an ice pack on his leg.

"Ronaldo suffered muscle fatigue, and the medical staff will urgently perform the necessary tests to determine his condition," stated Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus.

Earlier in the match, Ronaldo had a chance to put Al-Nassr ahead from the penalty spot in the 12th minute after teammate Mohamed Simakan was fouled. Following a lengthy four-minute delay, Ronaldo's shot went wide of the left post.

This was the 35th missed penalty of his illustrious career. The Al-Nassr captain, who has scored 181 penalties from 216 attempts, is currently 35 goals shy of the 1,000-goal milestone.

In a separate development, Al-Nassr's upcoming Asian Champions League Two quarter-final against UAE side Al-Wasl has been postponed due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The decision follows what US President Donald Trump described as "major combat operations" against Iran by the United States and Israel, which prompted retaliatory missile strikes from Iran.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) released a statement confirming the postponement of several matches in the West Region.

"In light of the developing situation in the Middle East, the Asian Football Confederation has confirmed that the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 Round of 16 first-leg matches in the West Region, originally scheduled for March 2-3, 2026, will now be rescheduled," the statement read.

"Additionally, the AFC Champions League Two and AFC Challenge League quarter-final first-leg matches involving teams in the West Region... are also postponed until further notice."

The AFC noted that matches in the East Region will proceed as planned and affirmed its commitment to monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
