The Gunners went ahead in the first half through William Saliba but were pegged back just before the break when Piero Hincapie headed in his own net.

However, from another set-piece, Jurien Timber made it 2-1 after 66 minutes, four minutes before Pedro Neto was sent off for a second bookable offence.

"It's a big win, and I am very happy," Arteta stated. "We performed in an excellent way for big periods."

The Spanish coach acknowledged the difficulty of the match, describing Chelsea as a formidable opponent. "We knew it was going to be a tough game. They are a top side and really well coached. I think we did some great things throughout the game."

Arteta also reflected on the team's response to conceding a goal and their play against 10 men.

"The moment we conceded the goal, it was disappointing, but we had the whole second half to play," he explained. "We should have kept the ball a lot better when they had 10 men."

He concluded by highlighting the significance of set-pieces in securing the result. "We knew the importance of the individual duels at set plays because they are a top side both attacking and defending them."
