Double Delight for AFC Leopards as Ingwe Bank Millions from Big Win Over Shabana
AFC Leopards five-star performance against Shabana FC also came with more money for the club at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
Leopards put Shabana to the sword, beating them 5-1, in an ill-tempered match that was temporarily halted before it continued.
Samuel Semo and Tyson Otieno gave Leopards a 2-0 lead at halftime before Wycliffe Awiko pulled one back for Shabana after the break only for Samuel Ssenyonjo to make it 3-1 for Ingwe.
Shortly after, chaos erupted as teargas filled the stadium, forcing the referee to suspend play while the situation was brought under control.
When the match resumed, Kayci Odhiambo scored Leopards’ fourth before Ssenyonjo completed his brace by netting the fifth in a match witnessed by over 6,600 fans as per the club’s update.
How Much Did AFC Leopards Bank?
After the game, Leopards announced that 6,635 tickets had been sold 5,980 of which were terraces and 655 for VIP.
With each terrace ticket going for Ksh300, that translates to Ksh1,794,000 with Ksh655,000 generated from the 655 VIP tickets which were each retailing for Ksh1,000.
This takes the total amount to Ksh2,449,000, being one of the highest amounts they have recorded this season from ticket sales. However, there was a price fluctuation on terrace tickets, with an earlier price of Ksh500 before dropping to Ksh300, meaning the amount could be higher that this.
Leopards’ win saw them remain second on the FKF Premier League table with 43 points, six behind leaders Gor Mahia, with both sides having played 22 matches.
Fred Ambani’s team came into the match level on 40 points with Shabana with both sides looking for victory to push them to second spot but Ingwe ran riot to close the gap on Gor Mahia.
