Kenyan international defender Collins Sicheje has broken his silence since joining English Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The Harambee Stars defender was acquired from Serbian club FK Vojvodina for an undisclosed fee. Collins Sichenje had been a primary target for Charlton, who managed to bring him to the club ahead of their original schedule.

Collins Sichenje is now ready to hit the ground running, especially after his conversation with Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones, and drawing from his experience with Harambee Stars.

Collins Sichenje explained that representing the Harambee Stars has been instrumental in his development.

The 22-year-old added that those experiences have strengthened his confidence and discipline, which have continued to benefit him following his move to Charlton Athletic.

“Yeah, it's been a good experience to get those minutes at such a young age, and it's helped me gain experience in games, so I have learned a lot from those games and just keep working,” Collins Sichenje told Charlton Athletic.

Collins Sichenje added that joining Charlton Athletic is a special moment for him, describing it as an exciting environment with clear ambitions that make him eager to get started.

He explained that the move represents an important milestone in his career and a valuable chance to continue improving while contributing to the team’s success.

Collins Sichenje added that staying grounded and maintaining a strong work ethic have been central to his mindset.

“It feels amazing to be here. It's a good club with good projects, and I'm ready to start working. It's a big step for my career, and it's a good opportunity to keep working and developing and help the team,” he added.

“You just need to be humble and keep working. That's the goal. Yeah, I'm fast, I'm aggressive, I'm talkative on the pitch, I'm like a leader, so, yeah.”

Sichenje pointed out that the Charlton Athletic manager has shown strong confidence in him from the outset, clearly outlining his expectations and helping him settle in quickly.

He explained that he has responded well to the demands, adapting rapidly to a high-intensity training environment.

Collins Sichenje added that the positive atmosphere within the squad, driven by motivated teammates and strong energy, made him feel settled and eager to get started.

“Yeah, the manager has a lot of faith and belief, so he told me what I need to do, the right things, you know, and I started to learn and adapt quickly. Yeah, the first impression is good,” he explained.

“The training is intense, good. So, the lads are good. Everyone is motivated and has good energy, so I'm happy to be here. I can't wait to play because I've been looking forward to this and I'm ready to go.”
