The two extraordinarily tall welterweights exchanged blows early on, with McKee throwing straight punches and Chidi concentrating on leg kicks.

It took a while for the judges to total the numbers, and strangely, one of them gave the fight to McKee with a score of 29–28, but the other two-handed it to Chidi Njokuani, who now stands at 3–3 in the UFC.
