Chiamaka Nnadozie bags POTM, clean sheet for Brighton in WSL debut

Super Falcons of Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made a her debut for Brighton & Hove Albion Women, securing a clean sheet in a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in the opening match of the Women’s Super League (WSL) season.

Nnadozie showcased her world-class talent in her first official game at the Broadfield Stadium.

Nnadozie was in goal for Brighton after several years in France with Paris FC.

The game for the Seagulls was her first official outing since she led the Super Falcons to victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), earning the title of best goalkeeper at the tournament.

In her debut for Brighton, the 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes, delivering a standout performance against Aston Villa.

Nnadozie kept a clean sheet, making four saves, two high claims, three punches, and five clearances to stop Villa’s attacking efforts.

Her commanding presence in goal and display earned her the WSL Player of the Match award.

The debut also marked a historic moment, as Nnadozie became the first African goalkeeper to start for an English WSL team.

This is another accomplishment for Nnadozie who was recognized with a nomination for the prestigious Yashine Trophy.
