The Blues are in search of a proven forward, and the 31-year-old has emerged as one of their top targets this summer.

Things at Allianz Arena have not gone as expected for the Senegalese forward, and a return to the Premier League looks possible.

The Africa Cup of Nations-winning star – who has also been linked with Napoli - was part of the Liverpool squad from 2016 to 2022 before he left to sign for the Bavarians.

At Liverpool, he scored 120 goals from 269 appearances and created 48 assists in a career that also saw him win key trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.

He moved to Germany for £27 million, which will rise to £35 million when the add-ons are considered.

Apart from struggling on the pitch, he has also had off-pitch issues, which could see him offloaded at the end of the season.

Recently, he was fined and suspended for one game after having a bust-up with Leroy Sane in England after a Champions League quarter-final game against Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are struggling despite signing a number of players, and they might be tempted to enter the market once more and fish for high-calibre players that will help them compete at the highest level.

The Blues have not yet appointed a manager, but this has not prevented them from planning which players they would need at Stamford Bridge during the summer window.

They are reportedly confident Mane will be an immediate fix to their striking problems, unlike Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has struggled to make the needed impact.

The former Gabon captain is set to leave, and this makes Chelsea’s need for a proper forward even greater.
