Bitter taste for Daniel Anyembe as Viborg fail to triumph against Silkeborg
Harambee Stars right back Daniel Anyembe featured for 90 minutes but could not help Viborg beat hosts Silkeborg in a Danish topflight match on Sunday afternoon.
Anyembe made two tackles and interceptions, won three of his five attempted ground duels, made two key passes and had a 90 percent passing accuracy.
He made three out of six successful long balls, and completed all three of his attempted crosses, underpinning the fact that he had a good individual game overall.
It didn't turn out to be the desired afternoon in Silkeborg, as the home team proved to be clearly the better side, winning 2-0 against a VFF side that found it difficult to create chances.
In general, chances created were few and far between between both sides, but Silkeborg was the closest and after a little more than half an hour of play, the home team took the lead.
Søren Tengstedt attempted a shot inside the box. Lucas Lund half cleared, and on the rebound, Alexander Lind netted for the seventh league match in a row.
The home team doubled the lead two minutes into the second half after a conversion, where Søren Tengstedt's finish was blocked by Oliver Bundgaard, but the ball dropped somewhat randomly at the feet of the red-hot Alexander Lind, who scored his second goal of the match.
In the last ten minutes of the match, Viborg made some good scoring chances to equalize . They attempted five shots at goal during this period, and the biggest of them was missed by Oliver Bundgaard.
Viborg have now gone without a win in four of their last five league matches, but will have a chance to make amends in the Danish Cup when they play Esbjerg fB.
