Messi played both legs, but the Argentine World Cup winner put in a disappointing display in both matches.

The result continued Messi’s poor run against Bayern Munich, having not won a game against the German Champions since 2015.

Messi has been on the losing side against Bayern in the last three games, including the 8-2 thrashing when he was at Barcelona.

Muller played in all these games too, and the German has maintained that Messi is not a threat to him at club level.

The Germany international insists he feels comfortable playing against Messi at the club level compared to Messi’s longtime rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Against Messi things always go very well at all levels in terms of results. At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when we were in Real Madrid,” Muller told Georg Holzner.

Muller praises Messi for World Cup performance

However, despite dismissing Messi’s threat at PSG, Muller was full of praise for the Argentine’s performance at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The 33-year-old said Messi’s individual quality led Argentina to their third world title, but he cannot do that at PSG.

"The individual performance of Messi at the World Cup was amazing. He carried the whole squad. It's not that easy to play in a team like Paris. It's difficult for you to get a really good team balance,” Muller added.

Muller and Messi are unlikely to face each other in Europe again unless the Argentine extends his contract at PSG.
