Bayelsa Queens battle Rivers Angels for supremacy in NWFL Premiership final ticket

It is a battle of champions as 2021 champions Rivers Angels will trade tackles with the defending champions for a place in the final of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six.

Rivers Angels will lock horns against Bayelsa Queens for the battle of Group A table toppers at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.

The clash is one of the fiercest rivalries in the Nigerian topflight and also serves as a dress rehearsal for the 2023 Federation Cup final coming up next Thursday at the same venue.

Both sides won their first group games with Jewel of the Rivers having an advantage at the top of the log with a goal advantage after a 2-0 win over FC Robo Queens.

The Prosperity Girls earned a 1-0 win against the Lagos Landladies thanks to Sabastine Flourish’s goal on Wednesday.

In its last seven Head-to-Head games, Bayelsa Queens has won four games while Rivers Angels can boast of three wins.

The Yenegoa-based team defeated Rivers Angels 2-1 in their most recent match in Port Harcourt thanks to goals from Flourish Sabastine and Etim Edidiong, giving the visitors a regular-season sweep of the 2021 champions.

Bayelsa Queens qualified from Group A in second place with 25 points, seven victories, four ties, and a loss.

With five victories, five ties, and two defeats, Rivers Angels finished second with 20 points.

Based on the past seven head-to-head matches, which didn't result in a draw, one might anticipate another victory from either team.
