Aziz Ki: Millions Ivorian-Born Forward Will Earn at Moroccan Giants After Ditching Yanga

Burkinabe attacker Stephane Aziz Ki is set to double his salary after completing a transfer to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club from Tanzanian heavyweights Yanga.

Ki, who was the highest paid player in the Tanzanian league with a salary of $240,000 (Ksh31 million) per year, translating to $20,000 (Ksh2.6 million) per month, has decided to swap Dar es Salaam for Casablanca.

The forward has arrived just in time for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup for which Wydad are among four African countries set to participate alongside Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Tunisia’s Esperance and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

The Ivorian-born star has signed a two-year deal at Wydad and according to reports, he will now earn $480,000 (Ksh62 million) per year, broken down to $40,000 (Ksh5.2 million) per month during his spell in Morocco.

Additionally, he will be paid a signing-on fee of ⁠$150,000 (Ksh19.4 million) while he is entitled to bonuses for goals and assists which are yet to be made public.

Ki will also get a house and a car plus business class air tickets as part of his big-money package at the Moroccan club.

Yanga, meanwhile, are set to receive a transfer fee of $360,000 (Ksh46.5 million) for the player as per Africa Soccer, a significant profit on the $150,000 (Ksh19.4 million) they paid to Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas to land him in 2022.

The big pay will make Ki one of the highest paid players in Africa although it is still way behind what some players earn in top leagues on the continent especially in South Africa and Egypt.

Ki scored 52 goals and provided 32 assists in 114 matches during his three-year spell at Yanga and won nine trophies, including two league titles, and was voted Player of the Year in 2023-24 after winning the Golden Boot with 21 goals.
