Awoniyi and Dennis get dream Manchester United clash in the semis
Nigerian forwards Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis are set for another trip to Old Trafford this season.
Awoniyi and Dennis will be looking to help their struggling side Nottingham Forest overcome giants Manchester United when both teams clash in the EFL Cup semifinal.
Forest booked their ticket to the last four following an intense 4-3 penalty shootout win over Wolves in the quarterfinal on Wednesday night.
Forest were denied an easy win at home as visitors Wolves forced a shootout after the game ended 1-1 in normal time.
Dennis features, Awoniyi missing in action
Of the Super Eagles duo on the books at the City Ground, only Dennis played a part in the pulsating encounter.
The 25-year-old came off the bench in the second half and played for 22 minutes while his compatriot Awoniyi expectedly was not listed for the tie. He remains out due to an injury.
In his 22 minutes he was on the pitch, Dennis managed just one shot and 15 touches as the game was decided via penalties.
Willy Boly netted the game's opener to put Forest ahead in the first half before Raul Jimenez scored the equaliser in the second half to force the game into a shootout, where on-loan United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, proved to be the hero with two saves.
Super Eagles duo to face United in the last four
Nigerian forwards Awoniyi and Dennis will be looking for a better outing this time when Forest face United in the semis later this month.
The duo suffered a 3-0 defeat when both sides clashed for the first time this season in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
Forest will play the first leg at home at the City Ground before making the trip to Old Trafford for the second leg days later.
