The Defenders were the dominant winners on day 8 of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2023.
Defenders Babes leapfrogged Seasider Babes of Lagos after an entertaining clash.
Defender Babes reign supreme
With backing from Nigeria Civil Defense, the Babes sealed a convincing 36-21 win against the Seasiders.
That win saw them extend their lead at the top of the table by five points, having amassed a total 47 points.
Defending champions, Safety Babes, maintained their form following an impressive victory over Bayelsa Queens.
Safety Babes thrashed the Queens 26-18 to clinch a big win in the Women’s category.
Elsewhere, Benue Queens defeated Bendel Dynamos 23-19, also in the women’s category.
Men’s Division
Seasider Boys came out victors after a 31-22 win against Police Machine in a feisty clash.
Another enthralling encounter saw Benue BUffaloes humble De Defenders 32-28 while Niger United battled a stubborn Safety Shooters but overcome 26-23 to retain their place at the top of the standings.
