In a post on their Twitter account, AIU noted that they have provisionally suspended Kamau for the presence of a Prohibited Substance (Testosterone).

This means Kamau is not eligible for competition or activity in Athletics prior to a final decision at a hearing conducted under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules or the Integrity Code of Conduct.

His case remains under investigation or it might be the subject of a notice of charge and so will also appear on the list of Pending First Instance cases.

The 25-year-old opened his season with a fourth-place finish at the Osaka Marathon in February before heading to the 1st Nittaidai Challenge Games where he finished sixth in the 5000m race.

Kamau then finished third at the 34th Golden Game, still competing in the 5000m before shifting to the 10,000m at the 67th Central Japan Corporate Teams Athletics Championships where he finished second. His last race was at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix where he finished third in the 3000m.
