Allan Okello: Millions Uganda Cranes Starboy Will Pocket at Yanga After Big-Money Transfer
Uganda Cranes starboy Allan Okello has secured a bumper transfer to Tanzania after signing for champions Yanga.
Okello, one of the most highly-rated attacking players on the continent, ended his stint with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC when he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Yanga with the Dar es Salaam giants unveiling him on Tuesday morning.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder will see a major jump in his salary as the Tanzanian giants are set to fork out a large sum on him.
How Much Will Yanga Pay Allan Okello?
Yanga are reported to have agreed to pay Vipers $300,000 (Ksh38.7 million) in transfer fees for the player, who had six months remaining on his deal and will shell out more in signing-on fee and salary.
As per multiple reports in Uganda, Okello is set to pocket a signing-on fee of $100,000 (Ksh12.9 million) while he will earn $15,000 (Ksh1.9 million) per month for the duration of his contract.
That takes it to Ksh22.8 million per year and Ksh58 million in total, if he stays at the club for the whole duration of his two-and-a-half-year contract, without any changes to his annual pay.
It is, however, not certain if this pay includes or excludes other performance-related bonuses which has become standard practice for top teams when they seal deals with high-profile players.
What Uganda Starboy Bring to Dar es Salaam
Such bonuses may include additional income for goals scored, assists or trophies won during a player’s stay at the club.
Okello led Vipers to back-to-back league titles, including a league and cup double last season, when he scored 19 goals, a great return for an attacking midfielder.
In total, the Lira-born star, who has previously played for KCCA and Algeria’s Paradou AC, scored 24 goals and weighed in with 13 assists in 58 games for Vipers.
