The Flamingos, under Head Coach Bankole Olowookere, have been in top form at the Remo Stars Sports Institute since dismantling South Africa’s Bantwana 5-1 on aggregate last month (3-1 in Pretoria, 2-0 in Ikenne-Remo).
Algeria’s senior team previously fell to Nigeria’s Super Falcons in friendlies in Ikenne-Remo and Lagos last October, adding extra motivation for the visitors to upset the hosts.
The return leg is set for April 25 at Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida, Algeria, with the aggregate winner earning a spot at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, October 17 to November 8, 2025.
Match officials, led by Ugandan referee Shamirah Nabadda, with assistants Fides Bangurambona (Burundi), Immaculate Ongiera, and Diana Murungi (Uganda), will arrive Thursday.
Ghana’s Naa Odofoley Nortey is the commissioner, and South Africa’s Deidre Carmill Zealand will serve as referee assessor.
With Africa sending five teams, including host Morocco, to the expanded 24-nation tournament, Algeria’s U17 squad aims to defy the odds against a confident Flamingos side, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown in Ikenne-Remo.
