Alaba Akintola secures 'The Best' status after retaining C-USA sprint titles
Once again, Alaba Akintola has proven why he's 'The Best' sprinter in the C-USA circuit after successfully retaining his sprint titles at the C-USA Championships.
Akintola sped to a brilliant Season's Best (SB) of 10.05s to win the 100m title for the second consecutive year, inspiring a Nigerian 1-2 finish as Karlington Anunagba came second also in an SB of 10.20s.
The Middle Tennessee State University sophomore student is now the second-fastest Nigerian sprinter in the event this season, behind Godson Brume's winning time of 10.04s to be crowned the SEC Champion.
In the 200m, Akintola successfully defended his title in 20.43s, making it the second consecutive year he'll complete the sprint double.
He attained the same feat in his freshman year, claiming indoor titles in the 60m and 200m and outdoor titles in the 100m and 200m.
This year, making it back-to-back titles again, indoors and outdoors, and owning the School Record in these events, Akintola hasn't just strengthened his name as the best sprinter in the C-USA, but is on his way to securing a legacy.
