Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has congratulated Nigeria's U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, as the team advanced to the last four of the U-20 AFCON in Egypt.

The Flying Eagles defeated Uganda in the quarterfinals to pick the 2023 FIFA World Cup ticket.

Ladan Bosso’s team kept a slender lead until the final whistle, thanks to an unlucky own goal by Ugandan Ibrahim Juma in the 30th minute.

Ahmed Musa played for the Flying Eagles in 2011 before advancing to the Super Eagles.

Buhari Charges Flying Eagles to Win in Egypt

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Flying Eagles to go all out to win the U20 AFCON in Egypt.

Delivering Buhari's message to the team, the sports minister, Sunday Dare, encouraged the Flying Eagles to aim for the ultimate prize.

Dare arrived in Cairo on Sunday with former Super Eagles captain and presidential aide Daniel Amokachi.

"Mr President and indeed, the whole of Nigeria, is proud of what you have already achieved. That is the major reason I have been directed by Mr President to come here to see you. The target is to win a World Cup ticket and you have done that.

Ladan Bosso's Flying Eagles will be in Indonesia later this year.

"Now, go for the ultimate prize. You can repeat what you did at the WAFU B competition. You can smell the trophy now, so take it step by step and become African champions again," Dare said.

Nigeria will face Gambia on Monday in the semifinal.
