AFCON 2025 Day 7 Timetable: African Giants Collide With Round of 16 Tickets at Stake
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations enters day 7 with the final round of matchday two fixtures taking place involving Groups E and F.
With the drama witnessed so far, only two teams have booked their places in the knockout rounds; being Egypt and Nigeria, but either Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon or Ivory Coast can join them if they win their matches on Sunday.
So, who is playing who on Sunday?
Gabon vs Mozambique (3.30pm East African Time)
Both teams are looking for their first win after Gabon lost 1-0 to Cameroon while Mozambique suffered a similar loss to Ivory Coast.
With the squad they have, Gabon are fancied to get their first points on the board on Sunday against an inexperienced Mozambican side in Agadir.
Equatorial Guinea vs Sudan (6pm Kenyan time)
The two teams are coming from difficult losses, Equatorial Guinea seeing their 1-0 lead wiped out by Burkina Faso in injury time to lose 2-1 while Sudan were thrashed 3-0 by Algeria.
It is difficult to tell how this will go but Equatorial Guinea have a good record against Sudan, beating them in their two previous meetings, including a 4-1 win at AFCON 2019, and should prevail in Casablanca on Sunday.
Algeria vs Burkina Faso (8.30pm Kenyan Time)
This one will determine who tops Group E and there is a knockout round ticket at stake as both won their opening matches.
Algeria and Burkina Faso have drawn their last three matchups but they have an even record in their 13 head-to-head meetings, each side winning four, while five ended in draws and it can go either way, although Algeria appear to have a superior squad heading to the match in Rabat.
Ivory Coast vs Cameroon (11pm Kenyan time)
The highlight match of the day pits defending champions Ivory Coast against five-time winners Cameroon in a mouth-watering Group F clash whose winner will secure a Round of 16 ticket.
Both sides won 1-0 in their opening match and in their last five meetings, the Ivorians have three wins, one for Cameroon and another ending in a draw. With the quality of both sides, it is a smash and grab at Stade de Marrakech on Sunday.
