5 records Harry Kane will miss out on with Bayern Munich move
As Harry Kane edges closer to a move from Tottenham to Bayern Munich, the debate continues to rage on about whether the England international should have stayed in England to chase records and cement his legacy.
With the three-time EPL Golden Boot winner already conquering a number of milestones, we look at the few ones that he had not reached and will likely never reach after agreeing on a move to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Most Premier League goals
The obvious one, Kane is only 47 goals away from becoming the highest goalscorer in the Premier League era. Given his prolific spell in the league so far, the England international could have gotten to that record within the next two seasons if he did not move to Bayern Munich.
The current record holder is former Blackburn and Newcastle striker, Alan Shearer, who scored 260 Premier League goals compared to Kane’s 213 and is only too happy to see the 30-year-old forward leave.
Most consecutive seasons with at least 10 goals
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney currently holds the record for the most consecutive Premier League seasons with at least 10 goals, and his record stands at 11 campaigns.
Thanks to Kane’s habitual goalscoring, the England forward has scored at least 10 goals in each of his nine full seasons with Tottenham and has never gone below the 15-goal mark.
If Kane had continued his trajectory at Tottenham, this is another record that the forward could have reached after two seasons.
Most Premier League golden boots
Although this record is already under threat by Manchester City new boy Erling Haaland, Kane could still have held the record for a few years before the Norwegian eventually claimed his throne.
Kane currently has three Premier League golden boots, the joint-most of any currently active player alongside Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.
The current record for the most Golden Boots currently sits with former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry who retired with four awards.
Although many would argue that Kane would have found it difficult to upstage Haaland for the Golden Boot in the coming seasons, it is well worth noting that the England captain was only six goals behind the Manchester City forward in the previous campaign despite Tottenham’s struggles.
Most league goals for Tottenham
Although Kane is Tottenham’s all-time top scorer in all competitions and has scored the most goals for Spurs in the Premier League era, he has yet to become the club’s highest goal scorer in the English top flight.
That honour goes to former Tottenham star forward and England legend Jimmy Greaves, who scored 220 league goals for Spurs, eclipsing Kane’s total tally of 213 goals by just seven.
This is perhaps the easiest record that Kane could have reached had he not decided on a move to Bayern Munich.
Most Premier League teams scored against
Harry Kane stands alone as the only Premier League player to have scored against all the teams he has faced, with 32 teams conquered during his career with Tottenham.
However, the Tottenham captain has not scored against the most teams in Premier League history, with Chelsea, West Ham, and Manchester City’s Frank Lampard scoring against 39 teams.
Getting seven more teams to score against may not have been easy to come by, but at least he could have started in the 2023/24 season with newly-promoted Luton town.
